Dating Shiny Accessories

Hello again, everyone! I have two pieces I've been strugging to date.

My fiancé and I found this ring for $40.00 at our local antique mall. I've been wondering about its age. It seems to have crosses and I'm not certain about the silver content.

I found this mesh Whiting and Davis purse and I've been looking for label matches for about a month.

If there are no hallmarks or stamps on the ring, it would be best to bring them in to a local jeweler to look at for you regarding the silver content.
The stone on the ring appears to be an amethyst, I wonder if it may be Celtic in origin.

The Whiting and Davis mesh bag is most likely post war, they have been making bags since the 1890s and went into mass production after 1912.

I do see some engravings on the ring but they're microscopic. I'll have to find my magnifying glass. I tried searching up similar tags and I think it's 1940s. Thank you!
 
The ring does look celtic in origin. If you can find decent lighting and have a macro setting you may be able to take a photo of the markings. If not, get the magnifying glass out.

If it's marked, it might just be purity and makers mark as date letters were only compulsory on wedding and mourning rings.

I see initials. G.F. I think the symbol next to it is a crown but I'm not certain.

Ah, okay. Unless anyone else has any ideas, I would suggest taking this to a specialist. The GF could be a maker that I can't find in my resources, but it probably stands for Gold Filled, which could mean it's rolled white gold. The crown, if that's what it is, indicates it is made in a country with a monarch. The design of the crown would tell you which country.

I thought the same, given the Celtic Knot styling and amethyst in that claw style setting (simulating a thistle head).

Is the GF within a frame/cartuche? If so, what shape is that frame (as best as you can describe it)? That may help with the dating, and the ring is likely Sterling.

Good evening everyone and thank you for your responses. If I dated the bag back to the '80s do you think it's accurate? As for the ring the initials are sunken in.
