Hello, we live in Los Angeles and have recently come into the possession of a Qty of Vintage Fashion Garments, accessories and fashion industry related items that belonged to my great aunt. She had been a fashion model, worked for Fabergé in the 50s-60s and we want to sell these items. Can you please give us some advice on stores or private collectors that might be interested. Thanks!

Have you approached vintage dealers in LA?

I am in LA. You can also try Golyester in the Wilshire district. She is very gracious and honest. She is also a private collector of grand clothing and accessories.

If you have any hats, please contact me as I am always purchasing or if I do not wish to purchase, I can happily assist you and tell you what it is that you have that would be of interest to serious collectors or dealers. Hats and headwear are my specialty. That way you know what you have, going in.

Hi Barbara, I believe we do have hats. I will open some boxes to let you know. My Aunt was a groovy lady with connections to designers of the era. I should post a pic of her. When you see her, you will know what I mean. We are selling her lot soon, as it's in my living room :) I will keep in touch!

I buy haute couture as well as Irene and Adrian--even though they are generally ready-to-wear. Condition is not an issue for me.
If you don't know whether you have haute couture or ready-to-wear, the VFG label guide is very helpful or I can look at photos of your labels.

Even if you''re looking for a single buyer to buy all, the VFG label guide will be helpful because you can identify which items are couture and which are ready-to-wear to a seller. If your aunt was a model for a store, you could have both particularly older garments. Or is she modeled for a few designers--the names will help you determine value.

I'm in Palm Springs.

Here is a 1/4 of the goods. Btw, is there a better way to add images from my dropbox folder?

My reply is just in reference to the hats. I find the white feather wig to be very nteresting. Does it have a label? And the black jockey style hat with the chin strap, does that have a label? That is an iconic 1960s style hat so I would like to know the designer on that one.

As both a dealer and a collector, the only hat that seems to stand out to me is the Mabel Marie Birch pink straw summer hat. While she is not a well known name, some seasoned hat collectors have interest in her hats. She was a California milliner and her hats were usually upscale sun hats and summer styles and very over-the-top looking.

The other hats are nice, but not collected designer labels and the styles are sort of everyday. Nice, just not something most dealers or collectors might want to purchase. Not for any real money, that is.

But if you have more hats, we would love to see them. Maybe you have a diamond in the haystack.

Sorry but my experience with Esther Ginsberg (of Golyesther) was not 'gracious and honest'. I would avoid her at all costs. I found her to be a vindictive cheater.

Hey, thanks Barbara and Jonathan! I will upload more pics when I get the chance. Doris is away and recommended Cannonball & Tillynon Fairfax. Thoughts?
