Roper Romp

The Roper Romp has emerged as THE social event of the season! Its infectious fun has spread from its original New Orleans location to the rest of the world, with countless sold-out events planned this autumn. Crowned the "Queen of the Caftan" by the New York Times, Mrs. Roper, the sassy landlady from the '70s sit-com Three's Company played by actress Audra Lindley, has become an unlikely style icon. In case you haven't guessed, the mandatory dress code for this hilarious, pub-crawling extravaganza starts with a caftan (the louder, the better), add giant sunglasses, chunky plastic jewelry and a curly red wig and volia! Your "Hello My Name is Helen" name tag awaits!

This is a 90s carnival costume pattern by Burda, but underneath it's just a basic caftan pattern in sizes S-XL and it's unused. Burda 3846

I LOVE Caftans! Predating the Roper Romp, I was a member of a social group called the Caftan Society. We would plan fun activities like bowling or miniature golf that we would partake in wearing caftans. There may have been some drinking involved...
:drinking2:

Here we are at a vintage bowling alley in 2013.
