Sylvain, 4 Blythswood Square, Glasgow. Black silk dress from 1904, information found in Glasgow post office directories where Sylvain is advertised as providing "costume and court". Opened in 1904, moved from the Blythswood Square address in 1921, closed in 1938 :)

Jill Richards, a California designer, whose clientele included Hollywood stars & Nancy Reagan

Here is an obituary from the Los Angeles Times: http://articles.latimes.com/2007/may/02/local/me-richards2

Here's a label from a 1970's full length silk & chiffon maxi (predates U.S. fabric identification laws of the early '70's). Note that someone apparently took a sharpie marker to the label before I found it). :)

here is some info from my description of the designer

This is a mod “dolly” style 60s era black velvet mini dress designed by Susan Kosovic for her label “Poupée Rouge”. Susie Kosovic opened her first boutique on Yonge Street in Toronto in 1964 and was featured on the cover of McLean’s magazine in 1966, the first Canadian designer to be featured on the cover of McLean’s. She was referred to in the magazine article as “Canada’s Mary Quant, but with her own thing” by Vidal Sassoon. Within a few years, she had three stores in Toronto, including one in Yorkville, one in the Le Cartier apartment building in downtown Montreal, and a boutique in the Hudson Bay Co. store in Winnipeg. In 1969, Kosovic began to design a Unisex line for the Fairweather department store chain and during the mid 70s opened a store called “John Alexander”, at this point using Susie Hayward as her name. She went on to have a long lasting career in the fashion industry.

As soon as I saw this I thought of Lizzie because it's so funny.
It's from Pete's vintage jacket school jacket.

I see many, many fabulous party dresses from the 1940s to the 1960s made from this designer, but could not locate much information on the designer Harry Keiser, himself. This label originates from a taffeta nipped waist seafoam green cocktail dress I have that is mid 1960s.

I see a couple of Paul Parnes labels but twice I have had this version on late 1950s/early 1960s garments. This most recent one is from a wool crepe hand beaded top from the 1950s. It was featured at the specialty department store Milgrim - whose label I have also added.
